Maurade Baynton
Distinct use of light, soft edges, combined with capturing a mood, an emotion, or a moment in time are some of the qualities that distinguish the art of Maurade Baynton. Focusing her artistic energy on creating high realism works, Baynton's art tells the stories of her own personal experiences with her subjects.
Maurade Baynton's artistic talent was discovered at an early age. She received a summer scholarship to the Banff School of Fine Arts in 1970, and has continued to develop her talent since that time. While Baynton has worked in oils for most of her career, she has been experimenting with acrylics and watercolours in recent years, and finds each have their own advantages and disadvantages. However, oils remain her favourite medium. Maurade paints full-time in her Sherwood Park Alberta studio and travels extensively in search of subject matter.Wildlife was the dominant focus of Maurade Baynton's canvasses for many years, but the last decade has seen a focus on a new species of "wildlife" - young Homo sapiens! A long enduring passion to paint children was re-ignited by an afternoon visit to an Albertan farm. Photo opportunities abounded, and by the end of the day, this talented artist had enough material to cover many canvases. The images explore the spontaneity and natural curiosity of childhood, as well as the wondrous connection between children and the world around them.
"My passion is to portray that unique bond that children have with the animal world. My goal is to capture that fleeting moment of innocence before they grow into adulthood."
